Project 52 - Week 33: Humorous

I love people who have a healthy sense of humor.  Believe me, in this business, you need it.  Things don't always go as planned, and I think that is some of what this week is all about.

We are stepping away from our text for a free week of exploring our humorous life with pets.  I have decided to use captions to guide you through.

First of all, you have to understand that we have animals with attitude.  Some more than others.  It seems the smaller ones have the largest things to say.  Like our cat Harry, for instance.  Harry is a clear skeptic.  He doesn't even believe it when he sees it.

Me: "Harry, it's safe to come inside the house now.  Barney is outside."
(Harry blinks twice and stays put in his spot on the porch.)
Me: "No, really, it's safe.  He won't pester you because he is outside now."
(Harry yawns and stays put.)

You seriously expect me to believe a woman who thinks the frog on the ball behind me is real?
Then, there is little Luke.  He is small in stature but large in confidence.  Since arriving he has attached himself to the same orange "Chuck-It" balls that Burton adores.  So much so, we had to invest in another set of them, so that Luke could carry one around all the time as well.  Our dog, Danny, loves Luke.  He wants to do everything Luke does, but he is often left in the lurch when it comes to grabbing toys in the yard.  He just isn't high on the confidence scale, or on the totem pole in our realm of animals with attitude.  Nevertheless, we think Luke is good for Danny's psyche, and is helping Danny to develop some attitude of his own.

If I stare at him long enough, he might just give that darn ball to me!
And, lest we forget, there's Lilah.  Lilah is a monster of our own creation.  With us since the age of 8 weeks, we are totally responsible for her attitude.  Many of you who have kept track of Lilah-doings, already know what she is capable of.  She has a very characteristic face she uses when something isn't going her way. We call it the "But why?" face.

Lilah, you can't have this bone.
FACE
Lilah, don't bother the cat.
FACE
Lilah, I do not have a treat right now.
FACE
Lilah, chasing toys in the house is not going to happen.
FACE
Lilah, it's Bethy's turn to play with the octopus.
FACE
Lilah, don't make a meal out of the grass.

Now go back up above, start at the beginning, and insert the face below.

But.......why???????????
So there you have it.  A clear example of why our pets keep us laughing and/or tearing our hair out.

To see what humorous activities others have been up to in the blog circle, we are starting this week with St. Cloud, Minnesota based, Cahlean Klenke of About A Dog Photography.  Work your way through the circle until you are back here again, and be sure to have a fantastic weekend full of things to laugh about!
