Step Three: Viewing Your Session Photos

8/20/2021

I left you hanging at the end of last week's blog post covering Step Two: The Session.  This week we are going to solve that cliff hanger, and take you one step further into what to expect when you make the decision to have professional photos taken of your pet.

If you are just tuning in and have not been following this informational four-part series, you can also read the initial blog post The First Step to Beautiful Pet Portraits.

YOUR SESSION IS COMPLETE.  NOW WHAT?

Your digital photo session will need to be processed.  This usually takes 7-10 days from the time of your completed session.

Since your photos are taken in RAW format, each photo will be developed in a digital dark room (my computer) using a variety of software geared to bringing a photo to life, and my personal style.

Once complete you will receive a phone call, text, or email (your preference) notifying you that your photos are ready for viewing.  You will already be aware, as we will have discussed it at the end of your session, that initial photo viewing is done IN PERSON IN STUDIO!  It will simply be a matter of setting up a time for you to come and view your photos.

WHY IN PERSON?

In order to process photos correctly, and jive completely with the tested and trusted photo labs I use for end products, I have calibrated my viewing screen to be sure that the color both you and I see there, is the ACTUAL color of the image.  It will also be the ACTUAL color of the photos you choose on the products you choose.

While you may have a tablet, cell phone, or even desk/laptop computer, you are not guaranteed to see the REAL color on any of those items.  Many have compression programs that will also compress photos as you view them.  This can distort the image, over-saturate, or even dull the lighting of a digital photo.

Seeing them on the studio's calibrated monitor is the BEST OPTION for viewing final photos.  I can tune my studio lighting to make viewing even more optimal!

After viewing, you may want to begin the order process, and I can make recommendations on beautiful products (many of which you can review samples of in the studio) for each specific photo you choose.

You might still want to consider options after your viewing session, and you may need additional time to do so, or speak with family members, or even share your photos with them.  I've got that covered, too.

RECEIVING YOUR GALLERY

After viewing your images in studio, you will be sent a link to your personal and private photo gallery via email.  The link is your way in, and the gallery is password protected.  You will receive your dedicated password when your link is sent.  The gallery allows you to share your photos with others, by simply sharing the link and your entrance password.  Simple!

Should you have family members that might want to also purchase their own images, say, for instance, after a family and pet portrait session, or after an event you attended together, I can make your gallery shop-able, so that they may purchase directly as they view the images.

Your Gallery is available for 60 days.  So there is a deadline for ordering and gallery use.

Galleries come in different themes and styles.  The example above is a Portrait Collage gallery version, which I often use for events I cover.  Your gallery will have your photos numbered, so it will be easy for ordering purposes.  It will look a bit different than the example.

I am always available for questions and to help your or your family's online ordering process.

That is the low down on viewing photos from your session.  The process is very easy, and is built to help you make the best decisions when it comes to ordering your artwork and/or prints.

Speaking of that, next week I will be covering the fourth and final piece, ordering your prints and artwork.  I will also talk about my most popular products.

I have been enjoying reading all of the other photographers' blogs on the various steps to their work.  I have learned that we are not so different in our approaches.  That's because we all want to offer the best customer service and best EXPERIENCE for our clients!

The ultimate goal is to bring you photos that you can relate to and enjoy for years to come!

To read more about what happens after the session, the blog circle begins this week with Angela Schneider of BIg White Dog Photography in Spokane, WA, showing you how to turn your dog photos into amazing home decor.

Have a great weekend!  Enjoy the final month of summer as much as you can!

Interesting that everyone gets a gallery to share with family and friends. Is this only after a product purchase?

I love the coloring of that dog. I also love that you talked about the color on the screen and using a calibrated monitor.
