It got me to thinking about this week's blog circle theme, "red and green."
While there is no doubt in my mind that red and green are the traditional colors of the holiday my family celebrates, and I sure do love a POP of red in ANY photo, other colors are tied into Christmas as well.
There are even songs to prove it.
Red and Green
Here are a few of my favorite Christmas photos that use the traditional colors, or pops of color.
Anyone remember the musical colorful Christmas argument between Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy? I didn't think so. In case you'd like to hear it, or play it for the kids in your house, CLICK HERE. |
I have been a blue-wrapping-paper proponent for many years. I like blue. Especially with hints of silver or gold in it. So blue has always been high on the list that I check twice.
Sure, Elvis' Blue Christmas was not the happiest subject, but photographers know that "blue" is the color of winter. We are either compensating for it or embracing it all the time.
In "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," Sam, the snowman, sings a song entitled "Silver and Gold." He sings about how much more silver and gold decorations mean to him on a Christmas tree, than they do as material worth. To kids it's a pretty song. To adults it's a message.
There's also a song I grew up with, "Silver Bells," which was one of the first Christmas songs I learned to play on the piano as a child, along with Silent Night.
Silver and gold are surely a great part of Christmas.
What are your favorite seasonal colors?
